Nutritional Tips

Research shows that if you eat together as a family, it helps children eat less junk food and more fruits and vegetables.

Replace white stuff with the brown stuff…brown rice, whole wheat bread (without corn syrup as an ingredient), whole wheat pasta.

Read the ingredient labels on food packages and choose foods with “whole” in the grain or flour name of the first 3 ingredients.

Add a green vegetable to dinner every night.

Snack right by eating an apple, banana, or strawberries at snack time

WELLNESS CENTER / SYNERGY a Medical Fitness Center
Napa CA

SJHS partnered with the community to build and operate the region's first Wellness Center and integrated medical fitness services.  The center focuses attention on primary, secondary and tertiary measures to help prevent life threatening disease through early detection, risk factor management, and lifestyle and behavior modification.

The Wellness Center includes Synergy, a medical fitness center which is membership-based and open to the public.  Community members of all ages, fitness levels, and mobility work towards lifestyle change and fitness goals.  The Wellness Center is also home for outpatient rehabilitation services, diabetes management and women's imaging services.

A key initiative for the Wellness and Health Improvement Division is Worksite Health Promotion for the St Joseph Health system employees. For more information, visit   www.wellnesscenternapa.com

An Employee Wellness Program is an across the board program to help and support employees in implementing healthier lifestyles. This could possibly include rising employee awareness on health topics, scheduling behavior modification programs, and/or implementing employer policies that support health-related objectives.  Programs and policies that promote increased physical activity, tobacco use prevention and cessation, and healthy meal selections are a few examples.
