Research shows that if you eat together as a family, it helps children eat less junk food and more fruits and vegetables.
Replace white stuff with the brown stuff…brown rice, whole wheat bread (without corn syrup as an ingredient), whole wheat pasta.
Read the ingredient labels on food packages and choose foods with “whole” in the grain or flour name of the first 3 ingredients.
Add a green vegetable to dinner every night.

Partnering to build healthier mealsSJHS has partnered with celebrity Mexican food chefs Jaime Martín del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu, owners of the award-winning restaurant La Casita Mexicana, to developed the Healthy For Life Recipes, a series of recipes for children and their families that are easy, taste great and healthy. Videos with the Chefs highlighting the health benefits of the Healthy For Life Recipes were produced and being used as educational materials on healthy eating. Meet the ChefsChefs Jaime Martin del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu are two passionate and genuine promoters of authentic Mexican cuisine in the United States. Both Chefs share a deep love for cooking family recipes, in remembrances of their childhood. Jaime and Ramiro are both natives of the state of Jalisco, México. Their dream became a reality when they opened their restaurant “La Casita Mexicana” ten years ago in the city of Bell, a suburb of Los Angeles. Their untiring work to preserve and promote with authenticity the vast and varied Mexican gastronomy, have taken Jaime and Ramiro to be regular hosts of various segments in local, national and international Spanish and general market television programs such as; Univision’s programs “Primera Edicion”, “Aquí y Ahora”, “Sabado Gigante” and currently KMEX’s 6:00pm news cast cooking segment “Los Secretos del Chef” and also “Despierta America”, the highest rating Spanish morning show in the United States.
